Branding: Thumbs up to Chicken Sausage

“A few weeks ago, I went to what is becoming a favorite spot to take visitors, Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand in East Atlanta. This place is delicious! They opened in March 2011, and I first heard about it through tweets & status updates of friends trying out the new place. Knowing absolutely nothing about this place other than seeing photos of their food via the internet, my husband and I decided to go. When we walked in, I thought, “Wow, whoever designed this place knew what they were doing.” Sometimes I wonder if I notice these things because I’m a designer, but I I heard people behind me commenting on the wallpaper and fun menu names, so its not just me.”

Delia’s Chicken Sausage in the AJC

…Most of the menu centers around chicken sausage served one of two ways: Slingers, a jumbo link sausage served on hoagie rolls, and the breakfast-style sausage patties that make up the Sliders. Delia’s uses only Springer Mountain Farms chickens, deboned and ground in-house. Not only is the sausage 100% pork-free – the ground chicken comes in collagen casings – so is the entire kitchen. Nary a swine in sight.

“Delia knows her grits. As she explains, “When someone says ‘I don’t like grits,’ I don’t get that. I can win anybody over with my grits.”

So after doing a piece on her wonderful Chicken Sausage Stand last month, I decided to ask Delia to share the secret to her incredibly tasty grits. And we are so lucky that she said yes.”

“Delia’s stands apart by offering a limited menu of Slingers: spicy organic chicken sausage in a fresh-baked bun, covered in various toppings. I prefer the naked version, but you can get sauerkraut, chili, jalapenos, or a variety of other toppings. They really are addictive, and one fills me up. There are other options, including breakfast sandwiches, but I find if you add too much to the sandwich it becomes impossible to eat without making a mess.”
